Religion is back with that the return of the 8 Gods of Norrath. Can you tell us some history and background behind the return of the Gods? What is the importance of the return of the Gods?
Ilucide: When adventurers defeated Chel'Drak, the Guardian of the Codex, and restored Zebuxoruk's memory, they set in motion an ancient plan he devised to return the deities at the point when Norrath needed them most. Zebuxoruk has given thirteen prophecies to guide mortals and give them insight into future events. Others have already begun to work on unravelling these prophecies, even as some of them unfold before the eyes of an expectant Norrath. One which many believe to refer to the return of the gods is, 'The Nine shall return and face the end.
Who is the ninth? Are the eight deities a part of 'The Nine', or does the prophecies refer to something else? Is this a plan set in motion by the deities themselves, or by something or someone else? One thing is for certain - the return of the deities' hearlds a new chapter in Norrath's story |

What can religion do for your character? What kind of choices do you have when choosing one religion over the other ?
Ilucide : Religion is a personal matter for Norrathians. Prayer is done in the home at an altar dedicated to a person's deity. Each deity has a portfolio of areas he or she governs, and grants abilities related to that. The abilities granted are not related to class, nor restricted to a class, but rather are an extension of that deity's abilities. For example, Solusek Ro rules over fire and the sun, so the abilities followers are granted are related to those areas. This means that players may specialize in an area which enhances their class role, or branch out and gain abilities which can enhance their utility in other fields in a pinch.
Each deity's prophet seeks assistance in Faydwer. Assisting them in their endeavours will reward players with more powerful altars, unlocked deity abilities, and cloaks.
Can you tell us about the ability 'Wars Enlightened'? How does it benefit your character?
Ilucide : War's Enlightenment is a potent blessing for the followers of Rallos Zek. Every time a foe is slain in battle, the character gains insight into the chaos of battle. Their chance to double attack, strike multiple targets, critically hit and damage their opponents is increased for a short time after every enemy kill.
"Think not on what you may lose in death, but what you will win through victory!" -rallying cry uttered by Freeport officers
Can you tell us about the 'Blessings' and 'Miracles' system?
Ilucide : Blessings and Miracles are the abilities that characters will pray for at the altar dedicated to their deity. Each ability has a favor amount associated with it, and praying for an ability will lower the character's favor with the deity. An adventurer may only have one blessing and one miracle active in his or her spellbook at a time, and each may be used twice before they must be prayed for again. Once the blessing or miracle is prayed for, characters may save it for the future or use it right away.
Typically speaking, blessings are longer duration (about 10 minute) buffs that imbue a character with their deity's power, while miracles are short duration (usually a minute or less) focussed displays of a deity's power harnessed by the character. |

Beim zweiten Interview wird Zaphax über die Zone Butcherblock Mountain befragt:
How much has changed in Butcherblock since the last time we've seen it in EQLive?
Zaphax: The Butcherblock Mountains remain a dangerous place for young adventurers to travel through. Players of the original EverQuest will recognize several familiar faces such as aqua goblins, emerald drakes and aviak chicks to name a few. However, there are several new creatures that now live in these mountains, some friendly and some not so friendly. The Yarpsnarl tribe of kobolds have emerged from the Underfoot and established several camps which threaten the might of the Irontoe Brigade. Were that not enough of threat, a highly militarized tribe of bugbears, known as the Krulkiel, have established a large camp in the mountains and threaten to dominate the entire region. Will you answer the dwarves' call for help and assist them in defeating these malignant forces? |

The Giant Chessboard is rather substantial; could you explain its story?
Zaphax : Legend has it that Brell and Bristlebane built this chessboard long ago and challenged one another for dominance of this region. Whatever the truth, the board itself is cracked and broken, and only a few giant stone pieces still remain. The chessboard still remains present today; though caution should be taken when traveling to see such a site in person. Giant skeletons still haunt the board and are known to attack adventurers whom they deem a threat. Defeating these undead behemoths may yield great treasures to intrepid adventurers who are up to the challenge.
What do you think are the most interesting areas in Butcherblock?
Zaphax : Where to begin? Butcherblock is honestly one of the most breathtaking zones I've ever seen! From the moment you step off the boat, it's really something to behold. One must take a moment to stand at the edge of the Highlands and watch the sun set over the Butcherblock Docks. The Chessboard, of course, remains as intriguing as it did in the original EverQuest. I also like all the caves that are hidden inside this mountainous region. One might be surprised at who or what they find dwelling inside one of these hidden caverns |

Earlocust über Steamfount Mountains:
Can you tell us about the circumstances that led the Gnomes leaving the Steamfont Mountains?
EarLocust: The gnomes were one of the few races to actually see what was happening on Luclin. When signs in the heavens revealed that the Steamfont Mountains would be the target of falling chunks of the moon, the gnomes abandoned the mountains and their city, fearing annihilation. They could not take their clockwork creations with them and left them in Ak'Anon to take care of the place while they were gone. Over time, the clockworks rose to power and fashioned their own society. They now refuse to let gnomes from the Shattered Lands return to Ak'Anon, and have renamed the city Klak'Anon. |

What was the fate of the Gnomes after the Shattering?
EarLocust : No one knows where the original gnomes of Ak'Anon have gone. The gnomes residing in Steamfont now have returned to Faydwer from the Shattered Lands seeking to discover the whereabouts of their kin and to reclaim Ak'Anon from the clockworks.
What do the Gnomes at the Gnomeland Security base have planned for us?
EarLocust : The gnomes simply want their city back. However, being the creatures that they are, it's very easy for them to get distracted with their own inventions and creations. They aren't very organized and need the aid of others if they are ever to be successful.
Can you talk about the similarities of this zone with the original EQ1?
EarLocust : Many geographical features and landmarks that exist in Everquest 1 are present in the Steamfont Mountains of Everquest 2. The Frugrin Observatory, the Windmills, the Dragonscale Hills and the enormous dragon skeleton, the Great Gear and the Mines of Meldrath are all prominent locations set in both worlds. Many of the same creatures that exist in Steamfont in Everquest 1 are present in the Steamfont Mountains of Everquest 2. The minotaurs and kobolds of the past have a major presence within the zone and have grown into more organized groups with areas under their obvious control and influence. Notable figures from the past are present in Steamfont as well. Meldrath, the gnome necromancer of old still resides in the mines, but he's changed considerably over the years. I will leave that for players to discover on their own, however. |
